Background The effects of hypnosis on thermoregulatory responses were studied in nonacclimatized acutely cold-exposed men. Forty exposures (4.5 @#X2013;5.0 C) were conducted in an environmental chamber under both hypnosis and nonhypnosis conditions. Five subjects, wearing 1 clo insulation, were cold exposed for 1 hr, four times for each condition, and each subject served as his own control. Variables monitored included mean skin and rectal temperatures, heart and shivering rates, basal skin resistance, and vigilance task performance. Background It is a fact that most documents relating to MKULTRA and other drug research programs were destroyed. In this one-page CIA Memorandum for the Record, it was documented that the order came from CIA Director Richard Helms, and was passed through to numerous individuals by Dr. Sydney Gottlieb. You will note on the bottom of this CIA document, the number 52-HQ-101074. This is an FBI file reference number. Background Beginning in 1969 and lasting until 1972, the FBI had an “intelligence letter” program, code named “INLET”. According to officially declassified FBI documents, this program was not only intended to provide the president with domestic and international security issues, but also, “items with an unusual twist or concerning prominent personalities which may be of special interest to the President.” In these letters, many celebrities and famous individuals were mentioned.
