The Statue of Liberty Loss of Power on March 8, 2017

Background

On the night of March 8, 2017, the Statue of Liberty went dark. All the lights were off, except the torch light.

Social media blew up with tweets and posts about the outage. No one knew why.

In April of 2017, I filed a FOIA request to the National Park Service (NPS) for records pertaining to the incident. In June of the same year, I received responsive documents that consisted of emails between Park Police and other NPS officials regarding the incident.
